The Centre for Addiction and Mental Health (CAMH) Foundation is pleased to host the Transforming Lives Awards (TLA), our celebration of the resiliency of the human spirit and the remarkable power of hope.
On June 6th, CAMH will honour five extraordinary people who face their personal challenges of living with mental illness, addiction, or both, with dignity and perseverance. Held at the heart of the new CAMH, our stunning redevelopment will be debuted to award recipients and guests as they mingle and celebrate in a dazzling open courtyard, flanked by our new, state-of-the art facilities.
Since its inception in 1998, TLA has been a signature fundraising event for CAMH. In 2010, TLA hosted 850 guests and raised over $800,000 towards CAMH’s Foundation’s Transforming Lives Campaign which funds CAMH’s extensive redevelopment as well as treatment and research priorities.
However, the Transforming LA is more than just a fundraising event - it’s also a bold step towards conquering stigma. Earlier this year, 63 nominations were submitted to us from across the country. Every nomination told a compelling story that sheds light on the perils of mental illness and addiction, and the power of hope, healing and recovery.
Through these stories, award nominees help fight stigma. By celebrating their courageous journeys, we join the fight.
